just wondering if theres a way to setp a regular phone to the pc and make calls. i know theres a lil box they sell at stores thats $40 that says it does it all but i figured why do i have to buy a lil box if i can plug the phone right into the pc? so do i have to shell out $40 to get the lil box which comes with its own phone # supposedly or is there a free or cheaper alternative? thanks in advance (by the way i did check the voip section and to me it didn't look like a free or cheaper alternative but i could be wrong)

"Skype Unlimited" I think its 3.99 a month you get a number and can call any us land line free for as long as you want.

never heard of skype but i'll google it and see if its in my location thanks a lot though. is there any other alternative though? wouldnt mind have a 1 time payment or something so i can get rid of these bills lol


edit: well i looked up skype it does look great, a lil confusing but its around $3 if u convert the eruos which is 1.99 a month. but thats just for u.s. and canada which isnt bad. wouldnt it be cheaper though if i just went out and bought a voip phone all i would need to do is find a way to get a phone number right?

Skype makes IP phones, which you can configure to use a wireless or a cable connection with out a phone.

The key problem is getting a phone number thats linked to your network so normal phone people can call you- that you can never get free.

But if you want a cheap way to get a number that users a pc or does not need a pc then skype on pc or a skype dedicated voip phone is the way to do it.

with voipstunt and buster u cant recive calls u can only call for free worldwide ,
and i use magic jack its free with usa and magicjack-magicjack , never tryed with europe .

thats all i really need is u.s.udnt mind being able to call p.r. though which for some odd reason isnt part of u.s. yet even though u.s. is all over that country....im really thinking about magic jack, the skype just doesnt seem right to me i feel like im missing something from the info they give on there site, it doesnt make sense to me at all. does anyone understand y u would need credit if u get unlimited calls?

well for usa the best choice is magic jack

so with magic jack i can set a phone number up, make any call free, and receive calls? then skype i could only make outgoing calls?
