a lil computer help about power supply
i got 3 sata drives (dvd and 2 hdd) and a graphic card that all needs a source of power. now i got 2 power supplies, one that came with my pc its 300w with 4 sata ata, 1 ata, one connector thats all white very small with 4 tiny wholes sorry i dont know the name of it i think it goes on cd drives. then i got another power supply that came with a custom case thats 500w with 5 ata, 2 sata ata and 1 of the small white connectors. now my graphic card takes 2 ata to power up the fan and then i need 3 sata ata's. so im not sure what to do, i can go and get another power supply with the right stuff or i use my original power supply and i can buy the ata cord that make ata into 2 ata cables, but then thats only a 300w power supply... also i got 3 fan that need power the 500w power supply (which im using now) has a fan, the cpu has a fan and finally i have a fan blowing the air out. my motherboard doesnt have the pins to supply power to them all, just 2. is there a way to get more power for them or do i need to go out and buy a different fan that uses usb or other? thanks in advance

i am not a computer tech by any means, but you could upgrade you existing fans to create the needed air flow for your putter. thats the cheapes way i think you coulg get away with what you need.
good luck

You need to put in a 750 Watt power supply, for the connectors you can use power splitters.
Which are cheap little 2 in pne connectors.

what kind of card do you have that needs two power connectors; it must be badass like a high end ati card
Also Xtreame why 750w? that seems a bit overkill..

well multi cores at full speed chew 125w, cards like the 4870x2 have twin connectors so 45w at idle over 240w in gaming.
Then there is still every device, the mobo and all add on cards.
So yeah 650-750.

I love it when people buy the stuff I suggest, especialyl when I see them so happy.
Yes its more about the total out put if you run your power to low, you will get dips which cause blue screens or restarts during high performance moments the 4850 is an exceptionally hungry card.
How ever its also the 3rd fastest card in the world.
Although the 4870x2 is now dethroned by the 4850x2
