i just downloaded the app "wm wifi router"......is any buddy familiar with it...!!!!!!

m having a major prob...!!!!!

i want 2 connect my ppc via usb to the pc tat has internet thn enabling the usb to wifi option in wmwifi router so it can act as an access point...thn connecting my laptop to it....!!!!

now the thing is my laptop connects bt has no internet..!!!!

If your talking about Windows Mobile wifi router, then its pretty simple.

Plug in the PPC/WM to the pc via USB, tell your firewall to let it do anything it wants.

Surf.

Its that simple.

I use the built in version with the diamond it works well.

PS. I only really works decently on WM6 and above.

i tried to do tat bt my firewall dsnt show nything related to it...!!!! so m nt sure wat to allow...!!! n my activesync gets disconnected ...is it normal..???

It means that your ports for acive sync are being blocked, when the new phone is connected.

Open a DOS box: IPCONFIG /ALL

Then find out the mobiles IP, go to yoru firewall and allow everything for that ip.

go to run type "firewall.cpl" and add it to the exceptions!

Also depending on the version of the pocket pc os it might not work.

The easiest would be to connect your ppc to the adsl via the adsl's wireless if it has.

Depending on which version of PPC or Windows mobile your running it can be a pain int he butt.

Easiest would be to google for your exact model of pocket pc and connecting to the internet.

Right there is a section in the user manual dedicated to setting up connections.

Are you trying to use your phone as the modem to surf, in which case just run internet sharing or wireless modem and then it will work on auto if your firewall is off.

Or are you trying to use your pcs internet on your phone?

In which case setup a network (instructions in the user manual) as work network, and then when you conect it will take the internet from your pc.

It also helps if you have internet connection sharing enabled on the pc?

no.......i knw how to make my ppc a modem n i also knw how to share internet connection to it ....its like just connect it to active sync.....n internet pops in ur phone in a sec...!!!!

the thing is i want to make my ppc as a router so tat it cn share my pc's internet to my laptop.....!!!!!!
ive seen many users with this problem but nobody seems to repond to their quires...!!!!

Well in the HTC Diamond 2 [topaz] if I want to use my computer to be able to surf using the Phone as a modem.
(using vista)

I run "Internet Connection Sharing" on the phone I plug in the USB - I tell my firewall (kaspersky) to trust the phone. Then I just open google and surf.

If I want to use my pcs internet for the phone.
I enable internet connection sharing on my pc via the wireless card in my pc.

I setup an adhoc network, I turn on wifi on my phone and connect to the wifi and surf.

If your adsl modem supports wifi natively just turn on wifi and connect straight to that.
