Winsocks is a proxy.

So lets say you have 5 pcs on your network and one that has internet.

Lets call the pc with internet MYINET if the other 5 pcs on the network want to be able to surf.

Then they add MYINET's IP as their DNS and default gateway and they can surf the net.

Proxys help share the internet to other pcs on a network.

Its like internet connection sharing.
