buying a computer help
ok well i already got my computer pretty much where i want it im buying the parts that xtreme told me to get. but i need another one preferably for games and internet. i got $1000 to spend, i already got a modified case (came with a 400watt power supply i lost and a extra fan i lost ) so i can either buy all the parts separately (only thing i cant remember how to put together is the cpu and mother card so i would need to buy this together if possible) or a already built computer. i already know im going to have to get the mother board off a website like e-bay or tigerdrive (preferred source for online) but for everything else i would like to try and get it from best-boy stores if i buy separately or already built. so what should i get? whats the best i can get for a $1000? im getting a 47" hd tv and would like to hook that up with it also. well thanks in advance.

Hi,
Well thats an easy thing to do.
Get a ready made pc of the following spec:
AMD Quad core (any does not have to be there fastest)
2GB ram
250GB Sata
Then get an ATI HD 4650 (1GB edition).
In my country (which is a rip off most of the time) at a shop that will set you back about $900.00 total all in.
The ATI has the outputs needed for the tv - DVI-I - but there also editions that have the Ribbon cable version for hd connection so it really depends on buy the card to fit the tv or the tv to fit the card.
I currently run the AMD Quad (sadly mine is 4 years old so I have the 9550 - dont ask I know about the l3 cache thing) But running a very very very old quad with the HD 4650 ( a budget friendly gaming card) and vista x64 - I score 5.2 out of 5 on vista experience.
On Windows 7 my lowest score is my hard drive at 5.2
So thats pretty much my vote for building a powerful machine on a small budget.
Games I have run: COD-WAW, GRID, CRYSIS 1 + 2, ASSASSINS CREED, SIMS 3; all run on high and perfectly. Infact watching grid play at my monitors highest res, its actually very pretty to watch and I dont even like car games - hehe
Newegg seems best when it comes to price in the US.

Well 6 is ideal 8 is a waste with 4GB my pc does not even bother to use the swap file.
If your running a 64 bit os - then the OS can use about 3 GB - so if you can afford it then do so.
The trick is go to 3 computer shops and maybe a best buy and compare prices against new egg.
Have a set spec - and then just see who gives you the best price - dont buy second hand!!!

The second quote looks great !
The first one has a crappy cpu - rather get the AMD quad because 4x2.3 is way faster than 2x 2.3
