Can anybody clarify me about those code that are attach to some downloaded file or the file source which is like md5 and other hashes. what are those code and how to use them to check my downloaded file integrity in both linux and windows. And one thing is this code supply for in any case if someone in the network can inject a malicies packet in the downloading file??????? i don't know actually this is my imagination.i search and couldn't find real info about this. Can anybody clarify me this,please?

Usually it can simply be a a hex based file id in a database.

If a file has an md5 checksum you can use third party software to verify that a file has not been tampered with.
