help please how to play a movie

I downloaded a movie with the file extension "001" but I don't know how to extract the movie or do anything with it. So, how can I do it? what software should I use ?

Hi,

The file is split, try hjsplit or other splitting software to rejoin the files.

a trick I found very useful for split movies (e.g., #.001, etc):

you can download only the first part (only the 001 file), delete the 001 extension from the filename (leaving only the avi.wmv.mpg/etc extension), and then playing with VLC media player. Gives you a quick preview of the movie by allowing you to view the first part, so you don't waste time by needing to download the whole thing.

what winrar does .001 files? i never even seen this in the options for controlled file extensions. im going to have to try this next time i download one of these. is there anything u got to do to make sure winrar extract these?

There should not be anything you need to do in theory, I know winrar does numbered zips and rar's but like I said this is the first time I heard of it dealing with files split by HJT

yeah it does not associate these files by default but if you do open with and then browse for winrar.exe to open the .001 it usually works
