Couple of Downloading ?
I have a couple of questions, hopefully some of you guys can help me out with.
(1) What is the U.S stand on us downloading movies (rip), do they target the downloader like some European countries do or are they after the uploaders and p2p sharers ?
(2) Which form of download would be the safest against possible detection and prosecution p2p or http ?
(3) High network traffic flow due to downloading large amounts of movies, could it alert those to detection and prosecution of a user ?
(4) If so what would be the safest amount of downloading ?
Flamers plz don't flame me, these questions are serious to me.
My thnx in advance

(1) What is the U.S stand on us downloading movies (rip), do they target the downloader like some European countries do or are they after the uploaders and p2p sharers ? its in-legal everywhere from what i know. if your safe about it, its harder for them to find u and they really only find ur stupid about it like got to its to obvious not to go to that. there looking for everyone it doesn't matter if ur uploading or downloading p2p or over the internet.
(2) Which form of download would be the safest against possible detection and prosecution p2p or http ? http is the safest and best. you can use a proxy site (there posted on here) which blocks them from finding u. its also the easiest, safest and fastest way because u can see what ur getting most people tell u and goes into details to show u about the movie or even programs, its also safe because most of these sites are virus free unless ur download a cracker but thats still kinda safe if u know what ur doing (its safer to get passwords). also its the fastest because u can use download managers and actually pay on a site like rapidshare to get the files a lot quicker then p2p which is very slow it once took my 2 days for a movie on p2p before i found rapidshare and this site now it take 30mins to 2hrs.
(3) High network traffic flow due to downloading large amounts of movies, could it alert those to detection and prosecution of a user ? i dont think so. how r they going to know?
(4) If so what would be the safest amount of downloading ? i download mass amount of files everyday from porn to games etc... i never been scared or thought i was going to get busted i play it safe....

1. it seems to be quite random about who they go after.. They usually go after the hoster more than the average user
2. obviously http
3. in theory yes, but ISPs do not have the time or money or manpower to monitor all that
4. not sure if there really is a limit but I was averaging about 74gb a month in downloads and nothing ever happened, again the ISPs here (or at least mine) does not really seem to care

Hi,
as per your questions: [and allot of experience on the subject]
(1) What is the U.S stand on us downloading movies (rip), do they target the downloader like some European countries do or are they after the uploaders and p2p sharers ?
Yes they do target downloaders/uploaders and especially p2p (infact p2p is littered with honey pot traps) - see geekologie a while back $ 80 000.00 fine for 20 songs. (same rules apply to movies - same legislation to the letter)
(2) Which form of download would be the safest against possible detection and prosecution p2p or http ?
Http via a number of proxies, setup a hack net basically - p2p and torrent are the least safest as proven time and time again.
(3) High network traffic flow due to downloading large amounts of movies, could it alert those to detection and prosecution of a user ?
If its from a known pirate site, source, distribution, contains contents that are identifiable in the stream,
(4) If so what would be the safest amount of downloading ?
Zero
You have to remember the fundamental point here, downloading movies is ILLEGAL, A CRIME.
By doing so you take on a risk, one you must be willing to face. its that simple.
