Serenity (2005) DVDrip AND Firefly Complete Series

Not everyone knows this, but Serenity was based on a SciFi Channel TV series called Firefly (Serenity was the name of their spaceship on the show). It was a great show and the only one I'm aware of to have ever successfully combined two great genres that are almost exact polar opposites--SciFi and Western, but it only lasted half a season (14 episodes). It had such a cult following, however, that they made this movie. It wasn't widely advertised, cuz they wanted as many people as possible to go see it without thinking they'd have had to have watched the Firefly series to know what's going on. And while that's basicly true, the movie can be enjoyed without ever having heard of the series, this movie actually picks up right where the first season ended. So if you haven't seen it yet, I'd reccomend watching the first season of Firefly before watching the movie. And if you've already seen it & liked it, then you would enjoy the series as well.

Plot Outline:

Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl. The crew that was once used to skimming the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space. Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to them may be on board Serenity herself.

Series Premise:
Firefly is set five hundred years from today in a new planetary system after humanity abandons "Earth That Was". Under the leadership of Malcolm Reynolds, a renegade who fought against the new unified central government (the "Alliance"), the crew of the Firefly-class vessel Serenity struggles to survive any way they can. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks & food on the table. They fly between the border planets to keep away from the Alliance and below its radar. But things get a bit more complicated afer they take on a passenger wanted by the totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find temselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating mutated-human Reavers who live on the fringes of space. This series was described as a "science fiction western" but is different from other space-based shows as it features no aliens.
