Converting avi to DVD

Hello, i got myself a new laptop and i got a DVD burner in it, now i downloaded some cool movies like The Da vinci Code but with nero burning rom i have 2 problems.

1. it can only make DVD's that are playable on a DVD player when the file is a dvd file and no avi

2. and when i use DivXtoDVDconverter it says that my video file is to big (in MB) but my DVD is 4.6 Gigabyte and the movie 1.2
also the time it needs is according to Divxconverter 1:40 (hour) and the dvd can handle only 1.20 hours it says, what to do to burn this goddam good movie ?

By VSO? It is the best one I have ever used. I converted 4 AVI movies the other day and burned them on one DVD disk. Let me know I can tell you how to get it.
