The Industrial Revolution changed the world in countless ways - and produced many technical wonders in the process. Seven of the most notable are described here, each one proving that human creativity is as much alive in the modern world as it was in ancient times.
The Secret Glory tells the story of Otto Rahn (1904-1939), who worked in Ahnenerbe (Ancestral Heritage Society), a Schutz-Staffel division in the Nazi Germany. Rahn was convinced he knew where to find the Holy Grail and after being nominated an SS officer, he finally had the resources to pursue it.
"What [Rahn] discovered remains as mysterious as the stories surrounding his untimely death in 1939, but with rare archival footage, old letters and photographs Stanley manages to conjure up the vision of a grand quest, which began in the 13th century and hasn't lost its alluring power until today." Stanley had reportedly been working this subject for quite a while before starting to shoot it mainly in France and Germany around the year 1998. He talks about his research in the Sex & Guts interview.
The Secret Glory celebrated its unofficial world premiere when a work-in-progress cut (running at 90 minutes) was screened in Germany at the Oldenburg Filmfestival in September 2001. It was a part of their "Richard Stanley Tribute" section, along with the Afghan documentary Voice of the Moon and director's cuts of Hardware and Dust Devil. The film's editor James Whitehorn has later mentioned in his Curriculum Vitae [now offline, accessed through Wayback Machine] that the final cut runs at 120 minutes with the title changed to The Secret Glory of Otto Rahn. Then again, Stanley's even more up-to-date CV mentions the film as The Secret Glory of SS Obesturm Fuhrer Otto Rahn, so who knows what kind of a word monster the final, complete title will be.

In the summer of 1952 witnesses claimed to see UFOs over the skies of Washington D.C. It alarmed nearly everyone, including the government who sent military aircraft to intercept the unauthorized objects which invaded airspace. Later, they would claim that the objects were in fact atmospheric anamolies which their radar operators mistook for objects.
In Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia on October 4, 1967 witnesses throughout the town saw a UFO flying in the air and then crashing into the waters and disappearing. The Canadian officials admitted that they had no explanation for the event, and that a UFO was involved.
In Bentwaters Air Base, near London, in December of 1980 UFOs were spotted in the woods near the base on several nights. Colonel Halt was an eyewitness and claimed to see three separate objects in the sky hovering above the trees. The government claimed that the sightings were caused by atmospheric conditions coupled with a nearby lighthouse. However, it does not satisfy UFO researchers who point to high radiation levels at the time.
The most famous UFO incident occurred in Roswell, New Mexico in July of 1947. Although the government claimed to solve the case, that the object was a weather balloon, they reopened the case in 1994. The famous Area 51 housed many experimental military aircraft such as the stealth bomber that people could easily mistake for UFOs.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon contains newly discovered, unprecedented evidence consisting of a previously unseen, mislabeled, 31-year old unedited reel of footage from the first mission to the moon, Apollo 11, dated three days into the flight. In this footage Neil Armstrong himself is clearly visible staging part of the mission photography.
Was the chief motive for the cover-up to fool the Soviet Union into thinking that the US had superior missile technology that did not really exist? We need to understand how urgent and unprecedented a motive this was, note past occasions of now disclosed United States misinformation, analyze whether or not the Soviets had the capability to uncover it, and, if they did, question whether or not they would really broadcast this finding to the world. It is important to note, that at the dawn of the space race never before in human history had two "superpowers" each possessed the intercontinental nuclear missile capability of annihilating the other several times over from a location half way around the world.
Another overlooked intriguing fact is that NASA launched the TETR-A satellite just months before the first lunar mission. The proclaimed purpose was to simulate transmissions coming from the moon so that the Houston ground crews (all those employees sitting behind computer screens at Mission Control) could "rehearse" the first moon landing. In other words, though NASA claimed that the satellite crashed shortly before the first lunar mission ( a misinformation lie), its real purpose was to relay voice, fuel consumption, altitude, and telemetry data as if the transmissions were coming from an Apollo spacecraft as it neared the moon.

On August 7, 1942, the opening day of the Guadalcanal campaign, American forces began shelling Guadalcanal and neighboring Tulagi in the Solomon Islands. It was the beginning of a U.S. push to capture the Japanese-controlled islands in the Pacific. Success was critical because the Japanese were rushing to complete a landing strip that would be a major threat to Allied shipping lanes between Australia and America.
Soon after the attack began, 27 Japanese bombers and an escort of 17 Zero fighters took off from Rabaul -- Japan's major stronghold and strategic base in the South Pacific. Their mission was to bomb the ships that were supporting the American attack. Among the fighter pilots was Japanese air ace Saburo Sakai.
