Bypassing Rar/Zip pass's

Anyone have any ideas how to bypass the passwording on Rars or zips? I have a few files that I have and I can't remember the passwords I put on them. The programs that do a sweep of every possible password takes wayyy too much time so it would be nice if someone figured out how to like view the source code of the file and find the password or something like that, my friend is also trying to figure this out so it would be a nice piece of knowledge.
