OK here is the very long and confusing steps to follow:
1) Install Steam (real steam not a cracked one)
2) Extract the Undead Patch to Program Files\\Steam
3) Run Undead Patch (make sure steam is closed first for this). And select yes for the prevent patching question
4) Extract all the GCFs (not the patches) into Program Files\\Steam\\Steamapps (please note that the files downloaded from the linx protection RS links require to be joined using HJSplit before extracting)
5) Run Steam (steam should now decrypt the files)
6) Close Steam
7) Extract all of the patches (anywhere, preferably your desktop)
8) Extract CFTools (anywhere, I suggest your desktop) and run.
9) On CFTools right click on all the GCFs in the list which you have the corresponding patches for and select \"Patches\" then \"Apply Patch\". Browse to the correct patch and click OK and CFTools should begin patching. Do this for each GCF for which you have a patch.
10) Run Steam
11) Run Portal
12) Enjoy!!
